How to Get the Most Out of Your Greens

I’ve talked about healthy fats in a previous post. Most people are unaware that we actually need to eat fat! One of the most important things that incorporating fat into your diet can do is increase the absorption of certain nutrients. Fat-soluble vitamins like A, D and E need to be eaten with fat in order for your body to synthesize it properly.

That means every time you eat a salad with fat-free dressing, you’re not taking full advantage of all the nutrients in the salad! I always eat a salad with an olive oil-based dressing (or some type of healthy fat). See our favorite salad dressing recipe below.

If you juice or supplement with a greens food powder like ēRaw, I recommend you add a healthy fat with it. If you’re blending it, add some avocado. If you’re making it in a shaker, add coconut milk, coconut oil or MCT oil like IGNITE. I’m surprised by how many people just use water and miss out on the opportunity to get all the vital nutrients that need fat for absorption.

eVolved Olive Oil & Red Wine Vinegar Dressing

  • 1/3 cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp IGNITE MCT oil
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • Fresh squeezed lemon juice
  • Fresh minced garlic clove
  • Black pepper
  • Sea salt
  • Dried mint
  • Tumeric
