Omega-3 ranks among the most important essential nutrients out there today. It's one of the healthiest forms of fat, yet most people don't get enough of it in their diet. Omega-3 supports cognitive function (focus & concentration), is critical for maternity nutrition and brain development in kids, strengthens the immune and cardiovascular system, supports muscle activity and joint health, enhances endurance, and reduces inflammation.

10. Salad Dressing…Just like dairy, going low fat with salad dressing is actually not the healthiest way to go. It's much better to reach for a dressing with fat. "Along with increasing the feeling of fullness, the bioavailability of certain nutrients, including lutein and beta-carotene, is higher when the full-fat counterparts are consumed," says Jessica Holst, RDN, LD and Wellness Dietitian at the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program. "Good choices include oil and vinegar or herb-infused olive oils."
 
Excellent Sources of Omega-3
The best source is cold-water, oily fish like Wild salmon, mackerel, herring, and sardines. My family and I tend to eat Keta salmon because it has a milder flavor, although a little less omega than the popular Sockeye (3-ounce serving of the sockeye salmon contains 1.1 grams verse 0.9 grams in keta).

Check out this video on my Instagram page of my kids taking their fish oil. They take the same gel caps we take except they chew them. Does your fish oil taste that fresh? Rancid tasting fish oil is the first indicator that the oil you’re taking is bad!
